Helsingin Yliopistokiinteistöt Oy to partner in RYM Oy’s Indoor Environment Program
This autumn saw the launch of the RYM SHOK (Strategic Centres for Science, Technology and Innovation) research programme on indoor environments, which will be carried out in 2011–2014. The programme, partly funded by the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (Tekes), has a budget of almost EUR 25 million and includes 45 participants.
The Indoor Environment Program is divided into four work packages coordinated by driver companies. Helsingin Yliopistokiinteistöt Oy will participate in the package entitled “Environments for Learning and Creation of New Knowledge”, driven by University Properties of Finland Ltd. The overall budget of the package for 2011–2014 is approximately EUR 10 million. The core funders of the package include Tekes, Helsingin Yliopistokiinteistöt Oy, Aalto University Properties Ltd, and University Properties of Finland, Ltd.
The package is focused on optimising and tailoring indoor environments to users' needs. It aims to create new working methods that integrate indoor environment design and the core processes of strategic facility planning.
Helsingin Yliopistokiinteistöt Oy will pilot the results in its facilities. The results will be implemented in close collaboration with the Faculty of Behavioural Sciences and the Centre for Facilities and Properties, University of Helsinki, both of which are among the project participants.
