Helsingin Yliopistokiinteistöt Oy to partner in RYM Oy’s Indoor Environment Program

This autumn saw the launch of the RYM SHOK (Strategic Centres for Science, Technology and Innovation) research programme on indoor environments, which will be carried out in 2011–2014. The programme, partly funded by the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (Tekes), has a budget of almost EUR 25 million and includes 45 participants.

Meeting of shareholders decided to invest in an extension of the building at Haartmaninkatu 3. The floor space of the extension will total some 13,700 m².

Kytösuontie 9, fire alarm systems

The fire alarm systems of the Institute of Dentistry, located on the Meilahti - Ruskeasuo Campus, will be renewed by the end of 2011 by the contractor Turvakolmio Ltd.

Renovations begun at Lammi Biological Station (23 September 2011)

Renovations of the dormitories at Lammi Biological Station have commenced. The total area of the premises under renovation is 3,695 GSM and comprises the buildings known as Herrala, Piikala as well as the student dormitory.

Use agreement with the City of Helsinki (29.10.2010)

On 29 December 2010 Helsingin Yliopistokiinteistöt Oy concluded agreements with the City of Helsinki on the use on the Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden grounds and the plot of the University of Helsinki Observatory.

Purchase of the buildings at Kaisaniemenranta 2 (29.12.2010)

Helsingin Yliopistokiinteistöt Oy has purchased from the City of Helsinki three buildings located on the grounds of the Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden, namely a café, a residential building and a building accommodating teaching facilities.

The renovation of the facade of the University of Helsinki dental clinic has been underway in stages since 2006.

Maintenance tunnel of the Forestry Building inaugurated(30.11.2010)

A tunnel has been constructed to meet the maintenance needs of the Forestry Building as well as the Topelia and Kaisa buildings and the book cave of the City Centre Campus Library. The tunnel runs under Fabianinkatu and connects the buildings on the east side of the street to the maintenance yard of the Kaisa building. The project was completed in August 2010.

Topping out ceremony for the Accelerator Laboratory held on 28 Ocotber 2010(30.11.2010)

The Topping out of the renovation of the Accelerator Laboratory on the Kumpula Campus was held on 28 October 2010. The renovation will be completed in stages. The repairs of the accelerator halls were completed in the autumn of 2010, and the research ewuipment is currently being prepared for use. The administrative and teaching facilities of the building will be ready for use in the early spring of 2011.

Project planning for the renovation of the HVAC systems in the Chemicum building underway (30.11.2010)

The project planning for the renovation of the building at A. I. Virtasen aukio 1 on the Kumpula Campus is underway. The project will include a new cooling system and a renovation of the fume hood ventilation system. A Workplace Analysis will be conducted in the facilities, and any changes discovered in the use of the facilities will be considered in the project.

The planning of the renovation of the laboratory building on the Viikki Campus is underway. The building will be renovated to meet the requirements of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry of the University of Helsinki.
